On-board Infrared (IR) header (driver/BIOS) compatibility issue on Windows Server 2003

Article ID: 201
Last updated: 30 Nov, 2010

Symptom:

Windows 2003 maybe display an error message at startup that "At least one service or driver failed during system startup".

Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details after vSpace software is installed to see if the PC system has an on-board Infrared (IR) header enabled.

Cause:

Some PC motherboard, such as Foxconn G31MXP-K, has an on-board Infrared (IR) header. The Windows IR management service can fail to start after vSpace software is installed.

Solution:

Disable to IR header in the BIOS and re-install vSpace software. It should be okay to disable the IR header functionality, since it is rarely used in a server.
